Details of the Incident

According to the Rich County Sheriff’s Office, the agency was notified at 11:02 a.m. that a construction worker was trapped beneath the roof trusses at a cabin under construction in Woodruff, Utah. Preliminary investigation findings indicate that a crew of contractors was installing roof trusses when an unexpected gust of wind caused multiple trusses to collapse simultaneously. The force of the collapse knocked two workers off the roof and pinned a third worker beneath a fallen truss.

Victims and Medical Response

A 56-year-old man died as a result of injuries sustained in the collapse. A 42-year-old man suffered critical injuries and was airlifted to a hospital for emergency treatment. A 29-year-old worker was transported to the hospital for further medical care. A fourth member of the crew was treated at the scene and did not require hospitalization. The identity of the worker who died has not been released at this time.

Investigation Ongoing

Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including Woodruff EMS, Randolph EMS, the Weber County Sheriff’s Office, the Utah Department of Natural Resources, and the Rich County Sheriff’s Office. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident remains ongoing.
