Apr 27, 2026 per KUTV: A devastating five-vehicle collision on Interstate 80 in Salt Lake County late Sunday night resulted in the deaths of two individuals and left two others with injuries. The incident, which occurred around 10:30 p.m. near milepost 104, caused significant traffic disruptions, with westbound lanes closed for several hours.

The Fatal Collision

The crash occurred on the westbound lanes of I-80, specifically near the 7200 West exit in Salt Lake County. Authorities confirmed that two adult males, each from separate vehicles, were pronounced dead at the scene. Emergency services transported two additional individuals to a local hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening. Their current conditions are unknown.

Investigation and Road Closures

The Utah Highway Patrol is leading the investigation into the exact cause of the multi-vehicle accident. At this time, details regarding what led to the collision have not been released. Following the incident, westbound I-80 was closed for an extended period, causing considerable delays for motorists traveling between Salt Lake County and Tooele County.
